1. Our Commitment
At Tutoroad, the safety andwellbeing of children and young people using our platform is our highestpriority.
We are committed to maintaining a supportive online environment where learners aboveaged 6 can study with qualified tutors.
While Tutoroad provides the technologyplatform and tools for online learning, each tutor and parent sharesresponsibility for ensuring that lessons take place safely and respectfully.
2. Purpose of This Policy
This policy outlines how Tutoroad promotesthe protection of children and young people on our platform and explains whatis expected from tutors, students, and parents or guardians.
3. Platform Role
Tutoroad provides an online platform thatconnects families and tutors, offers secure messaging and video tools, andprocesses lesson payments through Stripe Connect.
We do not employ tutors directly, but we carry out reasonable identity andbackground checks to help create a trusted community. However to managetransparency we suggest that parents arrange first introductory
4. Recording of Sessions
Tutoroad’s online lessons are normallyrecorded automatically for safeguarding and quality assurance purposes.
However, due to technical or connectivity issues, recordings may not always beavailable. Recording is a safety measure, not a guarantee, and shouldnot replace parental supervision.
Recordings are stored securely for up to30 days, after which they are automatically deleted unless required longerfor a complaint, safeguarding investigation, or legal purpose.
Recordings are accessible only toauthorised Tutoroad safeguarding staff.
Where appropriate, a recording may be securely shared with the involvedparent, student, or tutor to help resolve a complaint or safeguardingconcern.
Recordings are never shared publicly or used for marketing orpromotional purposes.
Users — including tutors, parents, agenciesinvolved and students — must not record, photograph, or take screenshotsof lessons or participants by any means.
Only Tutoroad’s authorised systems may record sessions for safeguarding andquality assurance.
5. Parental Supervision
Parents and guardians play an essentialrole in keeping online learning safe. We ask that parents:
- Ensure they or another responsible adult are at home and aware while tutoring sessions take place;
- Encourage open communication with their child about what happens in lessons; and
- To support transparency, TutoRoad encourages parents to arrange a complimentary 15-minute introductory meeting with the tutor to assess tutor suitability, learning compatibility, and any relevant credentials, where required.
- Report any concerns to Tutoroad or the appropriate authorities immediately.
6. Communication Rules
To protect everyone using the platform:
- Tutors, students, and parents must communicate only through Tutoroad’s messaging and video systems.
- No personal contact details (phone numbers, email addresses, social media accounts, or home addresses) should be shared or requested.
- All communication must remain professional and relevant to learning.
Any breach of these rules may lead tosuspension or removal of the user’s account.
In serious safeguarding matters, Tutoroad may cooperate with appropriateauthorities.
7. Tutor Responsibilities
All tutors agree to:
- Hold at least a Basic DBS certificate (within 12 months) and preferably an Enhanced DBS via an umbrella body;
- Maintain professional boundaries and communication at all times;
- Report any safeguarding concerns immediately to Tutoroad’s Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL).
8. Reporting Concerns
If you have any concerns about a child’ssafety or behaviour on the platform, contact our Designated SafeguardingLead (DSL) immediately:

9. Data Protection
Tutoroad complies with the UK GDPRand Data Protection Act 2018.
Personal data and any recordings are handled securely and used only forlegitimate safeguarding and service purposes.
